Hello and welcome to RL & RG. Mrs Lowe, Mrs Glover and Miss Dodwell
are delighted to welcome your child into Reception this year.
Starting school is such an exciting milestone, and we feel privileged to be part of your child’s learning
journey. We have been teaching collectively for 40 years with much of that time spent in the Early Years and in Key Stage one.
Supporting children as they begin their school journey is something we are truly passionate about and we feel privileged to share this important stage with your child.
We believe communication between home and school is really important, so please don’t hesitate to come and chat with us if you have any questions or would like to share something about your child.
Our main goal in Reception is to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where your child can thrive and develop their skills and knowledge. Play pays a huge part in creating a stimulating and experiential learning environment enabling children to explore, experiment, and develop those important social and cognitive skills.
Therefore, we provide a variety of play-based activities and experiences to support their development covering all aspects of the EYFS framework. At Glebefields we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, which sets out the standards and requirements that all early years providers, including schools, must meet.
The EYFS Framework is divided into seven areas of learning, which we focus on in
Reception:
1. Communication and Language: We encourage children to express themselves
effectively, actively participate in conversations, and develop their vocabulary.
2. Physical Development: Through activities like outdoor play and structured physical
education lessons, we aim to develop your child's coordination, control, and overall
physical wellbeing.
3. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development:We foster a warm and inclusive
atmosphere where children learn to interact positively with others, build friendships,
and develop a strong sense of self.
4. Literacy: Your child will be immersed in a rich literacy environment, filled with
stories, imaginative play, and opportunities to develop their reading and writing skills.
5. Mathematics: We introduce foundational mathematical concepts through hands-on
activities, games, and exploratory play, helping your child develop a strong
understanding of numbers, shapes, patterns, and measurement.
6. Understanding the World: Through various topics and projects, we explore the
world around us, including different cultures, environments, and communities.
7. Expressive Arts and Design: We promote creativity and self-expression through
art, music, dance, role-play, and other creative outlets.
To support your child's learning, we kindly ask that you:
-Ensure your child is punctual and attends school regularly. This will ensure they
receive consistent learning experiences and are able to fully engage in the
curriculum.
-Encourage and support your child's learning at home. Reading with your child
regularly, engaging in conversations, and practicing basic numeracy skills are simple
yet effective ways to enhance their progress.
-Communicate with us. We value your input and encourage you to share any
concerns, questions, or important information regarding your child's wellbeing or
education. This partnership is essential for your child's success.
-Check their school bags regularly for any letters or updates.Your involvement and
support play a pivotal role in your child;s educational journey.
-Share your child’s WOW moments from home using our SEESAW app and
regularly use this app to look at their learning journey and share this with them at
home.
We look forward to working closely with you and your child throughout this exciting year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us via dojo or speak with us at the gate or door.
Once again, a warm welcome to Reception!
