Welcome to class RS

Starting Reception can be a scary and exciting time. You will learn lots of new skills, make many new friends and develop your confidence and resilience in many ways.

We have an exciting trip to see Santa in December, a workshop in Spring term and a trip to Dudley Zoo in Summer term.

You will learn your phonics using Little Wandle. Letter cards will be sent home to help you practise your sounds at home. As well as your blending and segmenting words. Ready for learning to read. We will send home a reading book every Monday and it is returned to school every day in your red bag. Then we will collect it in on a Friday. Every Friday you will choose a sharing book to share with an adult over the weekend. All reading is recorded on Boom Reader app. Reading Rewards are given at the end of the term for all children who have read 3x a week at home. So please don’t forget to put them all on.

An amazing year awaits and it will be a fantastic journey!
