Geography

Geography Intent Statement:

By teaching topics that the children are interested in, it is our intention that by the end of our children’s primary education, we have inspired a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people, which will remain with them for the rest of their lives, equipping them well for their futures.

Children will have an understanding of the changing world in which they live, their place in it and the responsibilities that come with it. This is through exploring real life issues, natural disasters and environmental issues.  By its nature, geography is an investigative subject which provokes questions and provides answers to develop understanding of knowledge and skills.  As pupils progress through the school, their growing knowledge of the world helps them to deepen their understanding of the links between physical and human processes, and the formation and use of landscapes and environments.  Children will have opportunities to use their geographical skills and knowledge to begin to understand the impact of wider environmental issues on themselves and others.
