Parents / Carers,
Welcome back. It was great to see
everyone return to school on Wednesday morning with smiling faces, from the
Mums as well as the children! Everyone had a really good first day back but,
as always, we are happy to see you if you have any concerns either now or
throughout the year. There is a lot planned for this year and the start is
particularly busy so read on for more information…
Community and RE Week starts Monday
The children will be learning about
different countries during this week but we also have an exciting number of
visitors coming into school. This includes visitors from the Council to talk
about the services they provide. On
Wednesday 10th, between 2:00 and 4:00 we would like you to join us
when you will be able to find out more about what the council can do for you.
The event will hopefully include a visit from the Mayor and will be held in our Dance Studio.
Please come along. Refreshments will be served in the library.
make sure your child has a full PE kit.
Every child will need their kit every day for the week beginning the 15th
September. School shoes should be black. Sandals should be safe to run
in without falling over. Sandals (with
socks) should be plain in colour, white, black or tan.

Sports Week starts on Monday 15th
Mr Bishop has arranged for a full
week of events for all year groups. Lots of new activities to try and
exciting things to do! Make sure your child has their PE kit in school every day,
they won’t want to miss out!
We will continue with Good to be Green again this year.
Your child will lose their end of term reward if they miss 7 days. Check with
them and their teacher to make sure they don’t miss out.
We are introducing the Glebefields OSCARS this year. There
are 10 categories and the best children in each class from year 1 to year 6
will be picked out each half term until May. One child will be picked from
the 5 names in each category. The selected children will be invited to an
OSCAR evening at the end of term with their parents. Certificates, trophies
go to all invited children plus £25 to each of the category winners.
Categories are; reading, writing, maths, musician, artist, sports person,
humanitarian, environmentalist, team player and contributor.
I will go through the attendance
figures every Friday night to monitor how well each child is doing. We did
hit the Government’s target of 95% last year and I would really like to make
sure that we manage at least the same for this year.
I would also like to change the
reward system so that it includes more families (more information to follow).
I hope we won’t have to resort to
court action for persistent absenteeism but I will take this course of action
if I have to. Every child deserves to have the same chances to build strong
friendships be successful at school. Poor attendance negatively affects their
Parent Partnership Award
We want to work effectively in
partnership with all our parents and we are using this award as a starting
point to reflect on and improve our practice. We need some volunteers to join
a working party to look at what we do and what we could do better.
If you are interested please let
new photography firm will be in school on Tuesday 16th of
September. The arrangements will be the same as last year except that the
photographs will be taken in the Reading Area in the front entrance and the
Staffroom. Parents will have space to wait in the library and the front

are being used for sports week. More information to follow.
Please complete, sign
and return the information forms to allow your child to go on local visits as
soon as possible. Some children may be going out during Community Week and
