Welcome to Reception!

We are very happy to welcome all our children moving up from Glebefields Nursery and welcoming new children from other establishments as well. We create a very hands on and practical curriculum that follows topics alongside the children’s interests. We enjoy exploring inside as well as outside during all weathers. Especially the mud kitchen! Spare clothes to be kept on your child’s peg in case they are needed.

Every Monday we have PE so a PE kit will be kept in school ready for these sessions. This will be a red t-shirt, black shorts and a pair of black pumps. All labelled with your child’s name in a labelled bag. No jewellery to be worn on PE days even studs have to be removed.

Every Tuesday morning Reception are very lucky to have a Forest School session in our Forest school area over in main school. They will have to come to school in school t-shirt and jumper with jogging bottoms. Also a pair of wellies. Then bring uniform bottom and shoes to change into ready for the afternoon.

Our Homework books will come out every Friday with a lovely activity for your child to complete. These books will be collected in every Wednesday. They will also receive weekly phonics cards to play with at home. A sheet in their homework book will help you to help your child learn and practise their phonics at home. A reading book will be sent home as well. It will start off as just a picture book where your child will retell a story using the pictures. Then as they learn their sounds they will have books with words matched to their phonic ability. Record all reading of books and sound cards on the Reading App called Boom.
